About Us

Trevor started out in construction at the age of 16, working as a plumber’s assistant and then transitioning into carpentry and cabinet making by the time he was 18. At 21, he started his own business and built mansions and housing developments in Greenwich, New Canaan, and Norwalk, Connecticut, where he gained experience driving backhoes, dump trucks, and other heavy equipment.

Finishing college with a teaching certification, he spent the next 20 years teaching cabinet making and millwork as a vocational education teacher. Promoted to a Vocational Education Supervisor, he ran multiple vocational programs for 10 years, also stepping in as Acting Deputy Superintendent when needed. He eventually retired—only to work physically harder than ever before, alongside his son Evan. “Hard work lifts the spirit!”

At the age of 16, Evan started his first business offering landscaping, carpentry, and handyman services to the local community while finishing up high school and throughout his college days. In 2017, Evan graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology. He moved to Minneapolis to work as a project estimator for a large heavy civil contractor. After a year of estimating, Evan was transferred back to New York and his role transitioned to project engineer. He worked on various large projects including the World Trade Center, Tappan Zee Bridge, and the Middlebury Precast Rail Tunnel.

After a few years learning from the best in the industry, Evan moved on to design work where he performed structural design for residential homes and bridge analysis for superload moves. During this time, in 2020, Paton & Son was initially formed as a side business. True to his entrepreneurial nature, it wasn’t very long before Evan decided to take his knowledge and apply it to the business full time.
